Sunrise on Polignac
Located 5 km north-west of the Puy, the castle of Polignac (also called the fortress of Polignac) occupies a hillock or basaltic platform, fragment of ancient volcanic flow (altitude: 700 m), overlooking the valley of Polignac and the Puy basin.
The rock is bordered by steep cliffs nearly 100 m high, except to the north, where a triple line of ramparts has been built.
